Apple will launch its new devices, software, and updates in September and October 2022. However, there is a claim that the new 14″ and 16″ M2-powered MacBook Pro will enter mass production in 4Q22. That means the company will not be able to launch new Apple M2-powered MacBook Pros until 2023. Here are the details.
Apple’s first 3nm chips for MacBook Pro
The tech giant will launch the new iPhone 14 series, iPad series, and more at the upcoming event. Especially, the September event will be important for users because Apple will introduce iPhone 14, Apple Watch Series 8, and AirPods Pro 2. However, the new 14- and 16-inch Apple M2-powered MacBook Pros with 3nm chips may not come in these events according to the rumors.
A report claimed that Apple’s first 3nm chips may come for the next Macs and the company would begin production of 3nm chips by the end of 2022. Also, the A17 Bionic chip for iPhone 15 Pro models could be a 3nm chip. According to a rumor from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple may still adopt the 5nm advanced node. If this is true, it means we will not see the 3nm MacBook chips in the upcoming 14″ and 16″ M2-powered MacBook Pros.
Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted, “New 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro with new processors will enter mass production in 4Q22. Given TSMC’s guidance that the 3nm will contribute revenue starting in 1H23, processors of 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro models may still adopt the 5nm advanced node.”
There are not still official announcements about the new MacBook Pros. However, the company will clear the rumors at Apple’s October launch event.
