The collaboration between Apple and TSMC, the world’s largest chipmaker, will reach a new level in 2025. According to estimates, Apple will order chips worth nearly $60 billion from TSMC next year.
Apple may pay TSMC a fortune for 2nm chips
As in the past, Apple will be the first company to switch to the most advanced production technologies. The 2nm process, which will be put into operation at TSMC’s production facility in Arizona, will form the basis of Apple’s next-generation iPhone and Mac devices.

The 2nm production process is based on nanosheet transistors that will replace the current FinFET architecture. This transition will provide significant gains in both performance and energy efficiency. TSMC’s Arizona facility has a special importance for Apple.
CEO Tim Cook had previously made it clear that they were the largest customer in this facility. This is also considered as part of Apple’s strategy to strengthen its semiconductor supply chain in the US. Although the cost of the new production technology is quite high, the company attaches great importance to the new investment.
According to analyst reports, Apple is expected to order between $26 billion and $33 billion for 2nm chips alone in 2025. The total order volume could reach up to $60 billion. On the TSMC side, this process is not limited to Apple’s orders alone. The company is in fierce competition with rivals such as Intel and Samsung in the chip manufacturing field.
