The iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 update is likely to be the biggest package released in recent years. Designing an artificial intelligence-oriented update, Apple also revealed which models will not receive the update. Accordingly, it was claimed that three popular iPads will not receive iPadOS 18.
Three popular iPad models may not receive iPadOS 18
According to a leak from reliable sources, iPad (6th generation), iPad Pro 12.9 (2nd generation) and iPad Pro 10.5 will not receive the iPadOS 18 update. These models are all powered by the Apple A10X Fusion chip and may not have enough hardware for iPadOS 18.
It’s also worth noting that the 6th generation iPad is powered by the A10 Fusion chip. This increases the likelihood that the model will not receive an update.
On the iPhone side, developments are more positive. According to numerous leaks, iPhone XR and higher models are expected to receive iOS 18 support. It also seems possible that the iPhone SE (2020) will be included in this update program.
According to Apple analyst Mark Gurman, iOS 18 will give users more options to configure the iPhone interface. In this context, Apple is said to allow more customization. This is in line with leaks such as Siri improvements, AI playlists for Apple Music, smarter photo management.
iOS 18 is expected to be shown for the first time at the WWDC conference in June and a beta version is expected to be released. General use will be distributed around September-October.
