You can now join the beta tests for iOS 17, the new operating system officially launched at WWDC23, for free. Until now, Apple has been launching the developer beta process of its new operating systems in a closed beta, and at first, only developers who paid an annual fee to Apple could participate in the process. Surprisingly, this was changed at WWDC23.
You can now join Apple’s developer beta test
So now you can join Apple’s developer beta testing of iOS 17 and other new operating systems for free. This looks really cool. Regular users don’t have to wait for public beta tests anymore. If you want to install the first iOS 17 beta on your iPhone, the process is now much easier than before. But you should remember that it’s best not to rush into this. Beta versions can have many problems. Thanks to the new infrastructure, there is no need for a profile installation system like in iOS 16.
At the moment, you first need to go to the address here and log in to the system with the Apple Developer account that you can create for free. After that, it works directly automatically. After you log in, the installation system of iOS 17 comes to the “Beta Updates” section of the software update section in the settings of your iPhone. This may take a while, so take your time. When you select iOS 17 in Beta Updates and come back, the installation screen you can see above appears. iOS 17 Developer Beta version currently has an average size of 6.16 GB, although it varies slightly from device to device.
