MediaTek has officially announced that the Dimensity 9300 and Dimensity 8300 chipsets are now optimized for Google’s Gemini Nano LLM. Here are the details of the Gemini-supported MediaTek Dimensity 9300 and Dimensity 8300:
Gemini-supported processors: MediaTek Dimensity 9300 and Dimensity 8300 features
Currently, flagship devices like the Google Pixel 8 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S24 series are benefiting from Google’s optimized Gemini Nano LLM, enabling productivity AI features such as Smart Reply and Voice Recorder summaries.
MediaTek and Google will collaborate to create tools to help developers easily integrate Gemini Nano into their applications. The Dimensity 9300 and Dimensity 8300 will be the first processors to be used for this collaboration, with an APK soon to be provided.
This marks a departure from past AI processes relying on cloud computing. The collaboration is expected to offer several advantages, including enhanced performance, improved privacy, offline functionality, and reduced costs.
The Dimensity 9300, in particular, is said to be a chip that will help MediaTek reach a 35% market share this year. Some analysts, powering devices like the Vivo X100 series and the OPPO Find X7 (excluding Ultra), have announced it as the most powerful mobile processor currently in use.
On the other hand, the Dimensity 8300, used in mid-to-high-end segment devices, brings productive artificial intelligence capabilities to the 5G smartphone market. Both chipsets are announced with a commitment to deliver cutting-edge artificial intelligence directly to users.
