Instagram has announced that it has postponed the release date of its new Edits video editing app, a CapCut competitor. The app, which would normally be released in the coming days, will now be released at a later date, according to updated information on the App Store. Meta did not give any explanation for the delay, but gave a new launch date.
Instagram postpones Edits launch to March 31!
If we talk about the new video editing tool first, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri stated that Edits will be a comprehensive video editing tool developed especially for mobile devices. Here are the highlights of the app:

- Inspiration tab: It will provide users with creative ideas.
- A dedicated area where you can track your own ideas.
- A better quality camera experience.
- Advanced video editing tools (cut, merge, add audio, create subtitles, etc.).
- The ability to share drafts with friends or other creators.
- Easy video import to Instagram Reels and support for content analysis.
Meta also announced that it will allow users to export their videos without watermarks. This means that videos can be easily uploaded to different platforms such as YouTube Shorts or TikTok. Meanwhile, the announcement of the Edits app coincided with the announcement of the ban of TikTok and CapCut in the US.
So, Meta is said to be pursuing a more aggressive strategy to gain a strong foothold in the video editing and short video content market. In the meantime, the app will be released primarily for iPhone, but an Android version will follow shortly. What do you think about this? You can write your opinions in the comments section below…
