Samsung has shared the key features of its first upcoming smart ring, the Galaxy Ring. During the experiences at MWC 2024, many details of the ring were revealed. Accordingly, Galaxy Ring will not be compatible with iPhone.
Galaxy Ring will not work with iOS
The smallest version of the smart ring will be 2.3 grams and the largest size will be 2.9 grams. This makes the Galaxy Ring significantly lighter than similar rings like the Oura, which weighs between 4-6 grams.
Samsung also shared more details about the battery capacity. The smallest prototype ring is said to contain a 14.5mAh battery, with the battery size increasing up to 21.5mAh for larger sizes. Previously, Samsung had confirmed that the Galaxy Ring could provide up to 9 days of battery life on a single charge.
Compatibility details were also shared by Samsung’s Vice President Hon Park. The ring will work with Samsung’s Galaxy Watch smartwatch for combined functionality. It will also be compatible with Galaxy smartphones.
While the ring is designed to work with other Android devices, it will not support iOS. This is disappointing for iPhone users who want to use the smart ring.
The fact that Samsung is creating compatibility with its own ecosystem shows that it wants to integrate the smart ring into its mobile product line. With the emergence of size, battery and compatibility details, Samsung revealed the capabilities of the Galaxy Ring before the official launch.
