Nintendo has sold over 860 million consoles and 5.9 billion games worldwide to date. These figures were revealed in the promotional section of the press release for the “My Mario” product series.
Nintendo’s Best-Selling Consoles
Since launching the Family Computer (Famicom) in Japan in 1983, Nintendo has developed its own gaming systems and software. Over the years, iconic game franchises such as Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, Metroid, Kirby, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, and Splatoon have emerged.

On the hardware side, the Nintendo DS leads as the company’s best-selling console with 154.02 million units shipped. Close behind is the Nintendo Switch with 153.10 million units sold.
