Google Pixel to use TSMC chips instead of Exynos
Google is discontinuing the use of Samsung’s Exynos chips in its Pixel phones. Exynos chips are known for their poor reputation in terms of energy efficiency and performance. Therefore, Google decided to abandon these chips, eliminating one of the biggest weaknesses of Pixel phones.
Future Pixel phones, starting with the Google Pixel 10 to be released in 2025, will use chips produced by TSMC. TSMC’s 3nm chips offer 20% higher performance compared to Samsung’s chips with the same technology. This means faster, more efficient, and more powerful Google Pixel phones are on the way.
The Google Pixel 9 series will still come with the Exynos-based Tensor G4 chip. This will be the last Pixel model based on Exynos. However, everything will change with the Pixel 10. The new Tensor chips will be produced by TSMC and will likely be launched under a new name. This means Google will make a significant leap in performance and efficiency.
The reason for this change is simple: Samsung’s Exynos chips are lagging behind the competition. TSMC produces stronger and more efficient chips. Google decided to make this switch to provide the best performance to its users. Therefore, a significant increase in the performance of Pixel phones is expected with this move by Google.
