Black Myth: Wukong, developed by the new Chinese gaming company GameScience and breaking records on Steam in its first week of release, attracted attention by skipping the release week for Xbox Series X and Series S. So why wasn’t the game released for Xbox consoles? Here are the details…
Is Xbox Series S running out of steam for Black Myth Wukong?
Famous game leaker eXtas1stv, who had the opportunity to meet with Xbox developers and officials at Gamescom 2024, announced in his post on Twitter/X that the Xbox Series X|S version of Wukong was delayed due to a technical issue.
According to reports, the game suffers from a memory leak that causes serious crashes on Xbox consoles. Due to this problem, Wukong failed the Xbox certification process and has been delayed indefinitely until the GameScience team can fix the problem.
The development team is working hard to resolve this issue and pass the necessary bug fixes. GameScience plans to announce a new release date as soon as it receives approval. For now, the Xbox Series X|S version is reportedly close to being ready.
eXtas1stv also shared that the Xbox Series X|S version of Wukong has failed the certification process twice and has therefore been delayed indefinitely. According to the leaker, Xbox’s certification process is pretty strict.
Black Myth: Wukong was released for PlayStation 5 and PC platforms on August 20, 2024. The game draws attention as an action role-playing game with soulslike elements, inspired by the classic Chinese novel ‘Journey to the West’. Wukong also broke a record by exceeding 10 million sales in its first week.
