New details about the cameras of the upcoming iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro series have emerged. According to the latest information, this series will include four different models, each featuring significant camera upgrades. Additionally, Apple is expected to introduce a new capture button and support for a new image format called JPEG-XL in this series.
iPhone 16 and Pro Series Camera Specifications: 48 MP Main Camera, JPEG-XL Support, and New Capture Button
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models will retain a dual-camera setup on the rear, but the cameras will now be positioned vertically rather than crosswise. The main camera will feature a 48 MP resolution with an f/1.6 aperture.
This new camera will offer 2x optical zoom, while the ultra-wide second camera will have an f/2.2 aperture. The improvements to the ultra-wide camera will enhance performance in low-light conditions. Additionally, macro shooting support will be available for the first time in these models.
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models will feature more significant camera upgrades. The main sensor will retain its 48 MP resolution, with an f/1.78 aperture, and will be able to capture 12 MP telephoto photos with 2x optical zoom.
These models will also include a 12 MP telephoto lens providing 5x optical zoom. The ultra-wide camera will be 48 MP with a 0.7-micron pixel size. Apple will offer 48 MP resolution photos in ProRaw format, which will provide more editable data.
All iPhone 16 series models are expected to support a new image format called JPEG-XL, in addition to the existing HEIF and JPEG formats. The iPhone 16 Pro models will be capable of recording 3K video at 120 fps and will offer Dolby Vision support.
Apple will also introduce a new capture button on all models in this series. This button will be located on the lower right side of the device, allowing for easy access during horizontal use. The capacitive button will only be activated by users, preventing accidental triggers while the device is in a pocket.
The button will also allow focus and exposure locking when half-pressed and can perform various functions through different swipe gestures. What do you think about these features? You can share your thoughts in the comments below.
