Interest in superhero movies has rapidly declined in recent times. Especially the recent releases from Marvel and DC have greatly disappointed, failing to meet expectations at the box office. One of the most recent examples of this is Captain America: Brave New World, which was released on February 14. Although it had a relatively good start during its first week, the film couldn’t maintain that success and has now become one of Marvel’s most unsuccessful films.
Captain America: Brave New World Flops at the Box Office
Featuring actors like Anthony D. Mackie, Harrison Ford, Seth Rollins, and Rosa Salazar, Captain America: Brave New World hit theaters on February 14. The film earned $100 million during its opening weekend, but by the end of its second weekend, it suffered a 68% drop, bringing in only $28.3 million. This decline continued into the third week.

Reports indicate that the film’s earnings during its third week were around $9 million. With this in mind, the film’s total worldwide earnings are expected to range between $405 million and $440 million.
If Captain America: Brave New World reaches this expected range, it will become one of Marvel Studios’ most unsuccessful films. For comparison, the studio’s lowest-grossing film to date is The Marvels, which earned $206 million at the box office. Other underperforming Marvel films include Eternals ($402 million), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ($432 million), and Thor ($449 million).
