Supercomputer is called the fastest computers in the world. They can process huge amounts of data very quickly. They are used in applications as diverse as complex scientific calculations, weather forecasting, artificial intelligence and machine learning. China has also taken a very important step in this regard. Here are the details…
China commissioned its first fully domestic supercomputer!
China Telecom has produced its first supercomputer made entirely with domestically produced components and technology. The Central Intelligent Computing Center supercomputer is designed for artificial intelligence. It is stated that it can train large language models with trillions of parameters.
China has produced supercomputers with indigenous hardware and software before. However, a completely domestically produced computer will be an important development for the country’s technology sector. No information about the speed and hardware features of the supercomputer was shared.
Predictions of what might be inside the supercomputer might use Zhaoxin’s KaiSheng KH-40000 server CPUs, which are used in domestic servers on the CPU side. There is also hardware like Loongson’s 32-core 3D5000 and Phytium’s 64-core Feiteng Tengyun S2500. All three chips are architecturally different from each other.
The Zhaoxin KaiSheng KH-40000 is a 32-core server processor with x86 architecture, similar to Intel and AMD, used in Chinese-made servers. Loongson 3D5000 uses a 32-core MIPS-derived architecture.
Phytium Feiteng Tengyun S2500 is a 64-core Chinese-made server based on Arm architecture. Similarly, there are options for Chinese-made GPUs such as Moore Threads, Loongson and Biren.
Among the three Chinese companies, Moore Threads has launched a new GPU called MTT S4000 for use in the KUAE Smart Computing Center. Loongson’s LG200 was released earlier than the S4000. But if the claimed GPUs are used, it will be a very slow supercomputer.
