Plans for the movie adaptation of Minecraft began in February 2014. Markus Persson (Notch), the creator of the game, announced that he was in talks with Warner Bros. and that they had made an agreement, after which the director and writers were hired to develop the movie. However, due to some unfavorable circumstances since that year, filming could only begin in January 2024.
Jason Momoa, one of the cast members of Minecraft, announced the completion of the filming of the Minecraft movie with a post he shared on Instagram, giving exciting news for the movie world. Momoa also thanked the shooting crew and actors.
Produced by Legendary Pictures, Mojang and Vertigo Entertainment and distributed by Warner Bros, Minecraft will be directed by Jared Hess. The cast includes Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Emma Myers, Jennifer Coolidge, Kate McKinnon and Jemaine Clement. The much-anticipated Steve character will be played by Jack Black.
According to the information reported, the Minecraft movie, most of the shooting of which was done in New Zealand, will be released in the United States on April 4, 2025. It is estimated that the production will be talked about a lot in the game world.
