Dacia has moved into the development phase of the 4×4 hybrid version of the successful Duster model. The brand plans to offer a new four-wheel-drive (AWD) system with two electric motors by the end of 2025. Currently, the new model has been spotted for the first time during road tests in Spain by spy cameras. Here are the details that have emerged about the vehicle…
The Dacia Duster 4×4 hybrid model hits the roads for testing!
Currently, the Duster 4×4 comes with the TCe 130 gasoline engine and a 48V mild-hybrid system. The new hybrid version will operate with two electric motors placed on the front and rear axles. This system will be similar to the electric all-wheel-drive technology used in the Jeep Avenger 4xe model.

The vehicle normally operates with front-wheel drive but can switch to the four-wheel-drive system by powering the rear motor in slippery or challenging terrain conditions. Additionally, the driver will be able to manually engage the 4×4 mode when needed. While the technical details have not been fully disclosed, Dacia CEO Denis Le Vot has confirmed that the Duster 4×4 hybrid version will also have a bifuel variant.
In the photos, the presence of an additional electric motor on the rear axle is clearly visible. There is also speculation that this new hybrid four-wheel-drive system could be used in Dacia’s Bigster model. Since Duster and Bigster share the same Renault platform, it’s possible that this technology will be integrated into larger SUV models in the coming years. We expect more details about the new Duster 4×4 hybrid to be revealed in the upcoming months.
