The increasing demand for AI technology has shifted the production balance in the DRAM market, revitalizing memory prices. Major memory manufacturers such as Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron plan to increase DRAM and NAND memory prices by 30%. These price increases are expected to be reflected in end-users by the last quarter of 2025.
DDR5 RAM prices expected to rise
AI has significantly shifted the balance of the memory supply chain. High-bandwidth HBM memory, in particular, has gained priority in the production plans of companies like NVIDIA and AMD. This has led to a decline in traditional DDR5 and DDR4 production, as a significant portion of their production lines have been diverted to HBM production. This shift has left the supply shortage of traditional memory unsolved.

According to data shared by ChosunBiz, major buyers are now booking their DRAM production lines for two to three years. The effects of this situation are also beginning to be seen in the retail market.
DRAMeXchange data shows that the price of DDR5 16GB modules has increased by 5% in just a few weeks. Popular models like the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo have seen a nearly 40% increase to €189.90 in a short time.
DDR5 RAM prices are also gradually rising at major retailers like Amazon and Newegg. Prices for DDR4 are reportedly more stable but trending upward due to limited supply. If manufacturers maintain tight pricing policies, these increases could continue through the fourth quarter of 2025.
Experts state that memory prices have not yet reached their final levels, and that pricing pressure will continue in the consumer market as production capacity for AI servers increases.
