A PC version of Death Stranding 2 may be on the verge of becoming official. A new ESRB listing rates the game “M for Mature,” and while that’s expected for a Kojima title, it could also signal that the PC port is in its final stages.
So far, Death Stranding 2 remains a PlayStation 5 exclusive. But the original followed a similar rollout and this rating may be the first sign that history is about to repeat itself.
Death Stranding 2 earns its Mature rating

According to the ESRB, the rating comes down to the usual suspects: strong language, suggestive moments, and a few jarring cutscenes. There’s even an optional mechanic that lets Sam relieve himself, just like in the original.
It’s weird, it’s Kojima, and it’s nothing new. What is new is the timing. This kind of rating usually drops when a game is near launch on a new platform.
PC version of Death Stranding 2 could drop sooner than expected
If Kojima Productions sticks to the same pattern as before, fans might not have to wait long. The first Death Stranding hit consoles in November 2019, and the PC version launched eight months later.
Using that same window, Death Stranding 2 could land on PC between February and March 2026. That lines up neatly with The Game Awards in December, where Kojima has a history of teasing major updates.
Why a PC release matters for it
While the PS5 version is visually stunning and packed with cinematic detail, PC players want to experience it with unlocked frame rates, ultra-wide support, and mods. The PC version of the first game benefited from all of that and then some.
Fans are hoping the sequel brings:
- Improved graphics settings and performance
- Keyboard and mouse support
- Modding potential
- Save file flexibility
- Wider accessibility
It’s not just about visuals, it’s about freedom.
Could still surprise Xbox fans
There’s been no official word about an Xbox release, but Kojima has been working with Microsoft on another project. While Death Stranding 2 is still tightly tied to Sony, a port down the line isn’t out of the question.
All signs point to Death Stranding 2 arriving on PC
With an ESRB rating now public and the original game’s launch pattern in mind, the wait for Death Stranding 2 on PC may be shorter than expected. A tease at The Game Awards could confirm it and once that lands, the countdown truly begins.
