While not much has changed in the long term, there has been a significant drop in the percentage of Android users switching to iOS in 2023. iPhone is still king in North America, but globally Android has a big lead over iPhone.
The number of Android users switching from Android to iPhone drops from 15% to 12% in 2023
Despite this, iPhones continue to dominate the smartphone market in North America. Many Android devices are struggling to compete. According to research, iPhones accounted for 53% of smartphone shipments in the US in the second quarter of 2023.
According to a report by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), the number of users switching from Android to iPhone declined significantly in 2023. The report suggests that the decline is due to Apple’s strategy of persuading existing iPhone users to upgrade rather than attracting new users from Android. CIRP notes that about 85% of iPhone sales are made by iPhone owners.
Meanwhile, the report shows that 12% of iPhone buyers will switch from Android in 2023. This rate was 15% in 2022. Of course, considering that this rate fluctuated between 11%-15% between 2019-2021, we can only say that there was a decrease compared to last year.
For Android smartphone manufacturers, these findings have both positive and negative implications. While the rate at which Android users are migrating to iOS is not growing rapidly, there is a consistent flow of Android users to the iOS platform each year.
It’s worth noting that Android accounts for around 70% of all smartphones worldwide. So there is absolute power.
In the US, 61% of users prefer iPhone. So Android phone manufacturers need to take action. What do you think? Please do not forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
