Dell recently began sending notifications to customers affected by the data breach. In its statement, the company says that there is no serious situation, no one’s financial information such as credit cards has been stolen, only the name information of individuals, physical address information, order information and product information in service.

Here’s what the company says about the data breach:
Dell Technologies takes the privacy and security of your information seriously. We are currently investigating an incident involving a Dell portal containing a database of limited types of customer information related to purchases made to Dell. Given the type of information involved, we believe there is no significant risk to our customers.
In addition, recent reports have revealed that the stolen data is being actively offered for sale on the Dark Web. Currently, all of the company’s sales data from 2017 to 2024 is accessible through this data. The majority of customers affected by the data breach are said to be in the US, India, China, Australia and Canada.

In their post, the company explained what they are currently doing themselves:
“After we discovered the incident, we immediately implemented our incident response procedures, began investigating, took steps to contain the incident, and notified the authorities. We have also engaged a third-party forensics firm to investigate this incident. We will continue to monitor the situation.
The company also explained what users should do now:
“Our investigation indicates that your information was exposed during this incident, but we believe there is no significant risk due to the limited amount of information affected. However, you should always keep in mind tips to help you avoid technical support and phone scams. If you notice any suspicious activity related to your Dell accounts or purchases, please report your concerns immediately to security@dell.com.
