The Diablo 4 battle pass is getting a major overhaul starting April 29 with the launch of Season 8. This update introduces a new structure designed to give players more freedom in how they progress.
New Reliquary system changes Diablo 4 battle pass structure

Replacing the old tier-based model, the new system—called The Reliquary—lets players unlock rewards grouped by theme. Instead of following a fixed track, players can choose where to focus their efforts.
The seasonal Reliquary is free for everyone and includes a Town Portal skin, Platinum, and cosmetic gear for weapons and mounts. Additional Reliquaries focusing on armor, creatures, and more can be purchased using Platinum.
Earn battle pass rewards with Favor Tokens
Season 8 introduces Favor Tokens as the main way to unlock rewards. These tokens drop through regular gameplay like defeating enemies, completing quests, and finishing objectives.
Players can use tokens to grab items in any order across different Reliquaries. Prices range from two to ten tokens per item. Collecting every item in one Reliquary grants a bonus reward without extra cost. Token inventory maxes out at 99.
Diablo 4 battle pass bundle keeps old pricing
Although the system has changed, pricing remains familiar. Players can still buy a bundle that includes all seasonal Reliquaries for 1,000 Platinum—the same as before.
Blizzard made these changes based on player feedback. Associate game director Colin Finer noted that fans wanted more control, and this model reflects that demand while staying true to Diablo’s loot-driven identity.
Legacy rewards move to the Seasonal Journey
Some classic battle pass features aren’t disappearing. Smoldering Ashes and Season Blessings are now part of the Seasonal Journey. Functionally, they remain the same, just housed in a new location.
Limited-time events enhance the battle pass experience
Time-limited Event Reliquaries will also debut this season. These special tracks offer unique rewards during themed events. One notable event arrives May 6, featuring a crossover with the Berserk manga series.
The redesigned Diablo 4 battle pass embraces player agency while keeping the game’s core progression loop intact. This time, the grind comes with more choice.
