    DietPi 9.17 just landed, and it’s packing some sharp upgrades. Built on Debian 13, this update focuses on single-board computers (SBCs) with better backup performance, a Roon Server toggle, and several long-needed fixes.

    The distro also supports BIOS/CSM and UEFI images, along with virtual machine formats like Hyper-V, Parallels, and VirtualBox.

    Beyond the headline updates, DietPi 9.17 cleans up regressions from versions 9.13 and 9.16. HiFiBerry support improves audio options on Raspberry Pi, while minor spelling and interface bugs got brushed out.

    It’s not just about new features. DietPi’s strength comes from staying light, fast, and compatible with more than just mainstream boards. That wide reach keeps it alive on over 135,000 systems globally.
