With the “Galaxy Unpacked” event approaching, Samsung is accelerating production of the highly anticipated Galaxy S26 series. Mass production of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which accounts for approximately fifty percent of the series’ sales, is set to begin this month.
No camera revolution
According to new information reported by the South Korean publication The Elec, Samsung will begin production of the Ultra variant in December. The standard Galaxy S26 and S26+ models will enter production early next year. Given the Ultra’s high share of total sales, Samsung’s earlier start to production of this variant is seen as a logical move.

Another important detail in the report confirms previous information regarding the camera setup of the base Galaxy S26 model. Accordingly, the standard Galaxy S26 will be released with last year’s camera modules.
Samsung initially planned to upgrade the camera system of the base S26. However, due to widespread inflation in component costs, it appears the company abandoned the camera upgrade to maintain price stability.
This decision was made with the goal of maintaining a competitive advantage against the iPhone 17, which launched without a price increase despite its all-new LTPO display and increased storage features.
In this case, the expected camera setup on the base Galaxy S26 will be: a 50MP wide-angle main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera. Samsung will make some changes to the internal component layout of the base S26, initially designed for the new camera modules, due to the decision to retain the older camera modules.
Samsung appears to be generally cautious in its camera strategy. Even the top model in the series, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, is expected to feature almost the same setup as the previous model, the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The Ultra model is expected to retain components such as the 200MP ISOCELL HP2 main camera, 50MP ultra-wide-angle, and 50MP 5x periscope camera. However, there may be minor updates to the aperture of some lenses.
Finally, the Galaxy S26 series comes with built-in magnets. This development will help increase the wireless charging speeds of the series. Furthermore, this feature opens up a whole new ecosystem of magnetic accessories for the new smartphones.
