US President Donald Trump will hold a critical meeting with the leaders of the country’s leading technology companies next week. At the summit, which will be attended by CEOs of giants such as Intel, Qualcomm, HP and IBM, important issues such as import tariffs, export restrictions and the Chips and Science Act (CHIPS and Science Act), which directly concerns the semiconductor industry, will be discussed.
Donald Trump to meet with technology leaders
The Trump administration aims to make radical changes in trade policies by increasing tariffs on imports, especially from countries such as China, and tightening export rules. However, technology companies are concerned that such additional costs could negatively affect supply chains and increase production costs.

Another important agenda item of the meeting will be possible restrictions on the export of artificial intelligence technologies. The US is planned to limit high-tech exports, especially to China.
One of the issues that will stand out in the meeting will be the Chips and Science Act, which entered into force in 2022 and provides billions of dollars of state support to encourage semiconductor production. However, Trump opposes this law and argues that it is a more effective method to incentivise production through tariffs rather than state subsidies. In a recent address to Congress, the US President described this legislation as a ‘terrible thing’ and stated that it should be repealed.
The Trump administration recently held a meeting with Taiwanese semiconductor giant TSMC. After the meeting, TSMC promised to invest an additional $ 100 billion to build a factory in the US.
Trump argues that such agreements are a more effective method of attracting investment through tariffs rather than subsidies. The impact of this summit, which is of great importance in terms of US technology policies, on the sector is eagerly awaited.
