A new update to the Spotify app on Android has been receiving major complaints from users. Accordingly, there are crash problems in the application after the update. Although most of the complaints came from the version enrolled in the beta test program, it was reported that the stable version also experienced crashes.
New Spotify update on Android causes crashing problems
Popular music and podcast app Spotify is facing a new problem. It has been reported that the Android version of the application has experienced back-to-back crashes. It was stated that the problem affected Spotify 8.8.60 (beta) and 8.8.58 (stable) versions and prevented the application from opening.
The app’s crash issues seem to be mainly affecting Android users who participated in the beta test from the Google Play Store. It was reported that there were no crash problems for many users who downloaded the standard version.
Beta users who faced the app crashing after installing the update shared a lot of criticism on social media to report their problems. Accordingly, the Spotify app crashes immediately after launch.
Interestingly, however, users who signed up for the beta program were able to run the Spotify app on Android Auto. So the crashes seem to only occur on Android devices.
If you are enrolled in the Spotify beta program, as a workaround, you can try to leave the beta. You can then uninstall Spotify and reinstall the stable version of the app from the Play Store. This solution will allow you to use the app until Spotify releases a new version.
