EA signals major overhaul with Apex Legends 2.0
EA CEO Andrew Wilson shared plans for the future of Apex Legends during a meeting with investors. Wilson admitted that the game has not been moving in the desired direction for some time. He stated that the development team has been working on new content for Apex Legends, but that progress has fallen short of the company’s expectations.
Wilson emphasised that they believe there will be a need to revamp the Apex Legends experience in a more radical way. He announced that they are working on a major update to be called Apex 2.0. It was stated that this comprehensive update will significantly change and improve the overall experience of the game.
The company aims to time the Apex 2.0 release so that it does not coincide with the new Battlefield game, which is scheduled to be released in 2026. Wilson, who also shared his long-term vision, said that Apex Legends can stay alive for years like EA Sports FC and Battlefield.
These negative developments on the Apex Legends front show an overall decline in EA’s third quarter revenues and net income. CEO Wilson attributed the main reason for this decline to EA Sports FC 25 temporarily falling below expectations.
