Electronic Arts has announced that it has cancelled the Black Panther game, the development process of which was carried out by the former Monolith team. Following this decision, the Cliffhanger Games studio, which undertook the production of the game, will also be closed.
Electronic Arts has shelved the Black Panther game
The closure of Monolith was seen as a significant loss in the gaming world. However, the creative team of the studio was working on a new Black Panther game under the name Cliffhanger Games within Electronic Arts.

The game was going to be a single-player action-adventure production set in the Marvel universe and focusing on the Black Panther character. The project had attracted great interest since the team behind it was the creators of Shadow of Mordor, known for its “Nemesis” system.
However, EA announced that Cliffhanger Games, which developed the game, has ceased its activities and the project has been officially cancelled. With this decision, approximately 400 employees are expected to be laid off. The company’s recent change in strategy stands out as the main reason for this decision.
Electronic Arts now tends to focus on game series that it sees as safer. It is stated that the Black Panther project was also canceled within this framework. EA recently shelved the new Titanfall game and parted ways with around 300 employees from the Respawn Entertainment studio.
These developments show that EA has largely withdrawn its support for projects other than licensed productions such as Star Wars or Battlefield. So what do you think about this? You can easily share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
