Electronic Arts (EA) has laid off nearly 100 people from Respawn Entertainment, a studio known for popular productions such as Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi. At the same time, the studio’s new Titanfall game, codenamed “R7”, has been canceled.
Electronic Arts has shelved the new Titanfall game
This decision will be part of the company’s global structural transformation plan. In a statement made by Respawn Entertainment, it was stated that two early development projects have been officially canceled.

According to the latest information, those laid off included developers as well as employees from the quality control and publishing teams. It was reported that some employees were transferred to EA’s other projects, such as the Iron Man game developed by the Motive studio and the Battlefield series.
Organizational changes are not limited to the workforce. Daniel Suarez, senior vice president of operations at Respawn Entertainment, has been appointed as the studio’s new general manager.
Suarez will report directly to Respawn co-founder and CEO Vince Zampella in this role. Zampella increased his influence within EA by taking over the Battlefield series in 2021.
The canceled Titanfall project is a new disappointment for fans of the series. The Titanfall universe has gained a unique place in the gaming world with its fast-paced gameplay, mechanical-based conflicts, and sci-fi atmosphere.
