HMD Global, the parent company of Nokia, has been promoting its own brand in smartphones for some time. Although there is no official statement from the company, the Nokia Mobile brand seems to have officially ended. So what will replace Nokia?
Nokia Mobile is gone, HMD is here
HMD Global has stopped using the Nokia brand on its social media accounts. The company, which redirects to the “HMD” page for the smartphone, has also retired the Nokia Mobile name. This marks the beginning of a new era for the company.
It should be noted that the Nokia company is not completely closed. Nokia, which has an important market in telecommunications production, especially 5G technologies, seems to not produce smartphones in the future.
HMD Global, which has been launching Nokia branded smartphones since 2017, has changed the name of its “NokiaMobile” accounts on platforms such as YouTube and Twitter to “HMD”. The name change indicates that HMD Global will no longer use the Nokia brand.
This development actually reflects the news that HMD Global will launch its own branded smartphone. Previously, information emerging in China revealed that the first HMD-branded phone was developed under the code name TA-1585.
The device will adopt a flat 1080×2400 resolution display and will feature a 108 Megapixel camera module. With the release of the TA-1585 model, an era will be closed for Nokia Mobile.
HMD Global will introduce two series and a total of six new phones within the scope of the first launch. These devices will be titled “Pulse” and “Legend”.
