Epic Games Store is ending November on a strong note and kicking off December 2025 with two solid free PC games. One’s a narrative-heavy cult hit, and the other is a fan-favorite party collection perfect for the holidays.

Starting this week, The Darkside Detective joins the free games lineup. This quirky, pixel-art point-and-click title first launched in 2017 and has since racked up a collection of indie awards. It won Game of the Year at the 2017 IMIRT Awards, Best Indie Game at Coaching for Geeks in 2018, and Best Narrative from the Galway Games Gathering.

Players take on the role of Detective Francis McQueen as he investigates bizarre, supernatural cases in the strange city of Twin Lakes. The game leans heavily into comedic writing and low-fi charm, with short episodic cases that don’t overstay their welcome. It’s light on system requirements and should run comfortably on even modest machines.

Still, some have called it too light, offering limited depth and predictable puzzles. That said, its writing and atmosphere keep it engaging, and at a regular $14.99 price tag, getting it for free is hard to argue with.

The second freebie is The Jackbox Party Pack 4, released in 2017 and still one of the series’ most loved entries. This bundle includes five party games built for both local couch play and remote sessions via phones, making it a perfect pickup for casual hangouts or virtual get-togethers.

    Among the highlights:

    • Bracketeering – a tournament-style debate game for up to 16 players
    • Fibbidge 3 – a fresh take on the trivia classic, now with video questions
    • Monster Seeking Monster – a weird, hilarious dating game with secret identities
    • Civic Doodle – a competitive drawing game
    • Survive the Internet – a social game where players twist each other’s words

The full pack usually retails for $24.99 and boasts an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam with over 1,900 reviews.

Together, The Darkside Detective and Jackbox Party Pack 4 offer very different flavors, solo puzzle-solving and group mayhem, but both are strong picks for Epic’s December openers. Whether you’re looking for laughs, mysteries, or something to play with friends, the Epic Games Store just delivered.
