Luxeed, the joint brand of Huawei and Chery, is working on a range extender (EREV) version of its fastback SUV model R7. It is possible that the vehicle, which went on sale as fully electric last year, will create an agenda again with the Luxeed R7 EREV version.
Countdown for Luxeed R7 EREV
With the increasing demand for hybrid vehicles, Chery and Huawei are preparing to launch the range extender (EREV) version of the Luxeed R7 fastback SUV model.
Luxeed R7, a joint venture of the two companies, was introduced to the market with its fully electric version last year and attracted great attention. The electric model of the R7 revealed the potential of the brand by receiving more than 30 thousand orders just one month after its introduction.
Now, the companies aim to take this success even further with the EREV version of the R7. The new model will have a similar exterior design to the all-electric version, including a closed front grille, slim LED headlights and a sloping roofline. However, it will reflect its difference with the air intake on the front bumper.
The Luxeed R7 EREV will be powered by Chery’s 1.5-litre turbocharged SQRH4J15 engine. Producing 115 kW (154 hp), this engine will be fuelled by a 32 kWh LFP battery.
Luxeed, a joint venture between Chery and Huawei, managed to sell more than 21 thousand units in China between January-October 2024. With the launch of the R7 EREV and the continued popularity of the R7, it is possible for the brand to strengthen in the Chinese market. Of course, let us remind you that it has not yet been introduced to the global market.
