The RB17 project began while developing Max Verstappen’s first World Championship-winning F1 car in 2021. Serving as a spiritual successor to the Aston Martin Valkyrie, the RB17 is purely track-focused rather than road-oriented. Newey outlined three primary goals for the project in an interview with Autocar: “To look fantastic, sound incredible, and provide enjoyment and development opportunities for drivers of all levels.”

Engineer Newey noted that the car is currently not suitable for road driving but hinted at potential adaptations in the future. Overall, the RB17 stands as a true collector’s item.
