Sony’s next-generation plans are continuing apace. According to recent leaks, the company is currently actively working on both the main PS6 console and a portable PlayStation 6. This new device will not be a streaming device like the PlayStation Portal.
What will the specifications of the portable PlayStation 6 be like?
A reliable leaker, Moore’s Law is Dead (MLID), has shared Sony’s plans. Allegedly, this new handheld console is being designed as part of the PlayStation 6 family. It will also be powered by a custom AMD APU processor.

The most striking feature of this portable model will be its gaming support. Thanks to backward compatibility, the device will seamlessly run PlayStation 4 games. It will also reportedly be able to run select PlayStation 5 games. However, PS5 games may require a dedicated patch for the console.
Sony is positioning this device as a more affordable entry point into the PS6 ecosystem. It’s possible that the device will be released before the main PS6 console (expected around 2027-2028). This strategy aims to give gamers a flexible option for transitioning to the next generation.
