For a long time, it has been expected that Qualcomm would add a new chipset to its Snapdragon 7 series processors. Today, the company introduced its latest mobile processor, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. The third-generation processor in the Snapdragon 7+ series will bring artificial intelligence features found in the Snapdragon 8 series to phones, making it the first chipset in the 7 series with these capabilities. The first processor in the series with artificial intelligence capabilities: Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3
As Qualcomm’s latest mobile processor, it aims to provide users with superior performance by bringing the latest artificial intelligence capabilities to phones, thanks to its primary Cortex-X4 core found in the 8 series. Additionally, according to announcements made by the company, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 offers a 15% increase in CPU performance and a 45% improvement in Adreno graphics chipset performance compared to previous versions.
In addition to the increased performance, it is claimed that the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 reduces power consumption by 5%, thereby extending the battery life of phones. The new chipset features 8 cores, including a 2.8GHz Cortex-X4, 2.6GHz A720, and 1.9GHz Cortex-A520. Furthermore, Qualcomm ensures that the latest technologies used in the 8 Gen 3 processor are also included in this chipset, offering users Wi-Fi 7 support of up to 5.8 Gbps.
According to the report shared by 91mobiles, it reveals the first smartphones to come with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
Speaking of artificial intelligence features, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 with 4nm processor technology comes with support for large language models (LLM) and extensive vision models (LVM) such as Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, Gemini Nano, and Zhipu ChatGLM.
The latest processor introduced by Qualcomm offers support for refresh rates up to 240Hz and supports displays with 4K resolution at 60Hz and QHD+ resolution at 120Hz. In terms of memory, it supports up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The first phone expected to use this processor is the OnePlus Ace 3V.
