Brand new information about Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Fold, has leaked to the public. According to claims from a reliable source, the iPhone Fold is being tested with a battery capacity far exceeding expectations.
The iPhone Fold is officially coming
Leaks indicate that the device will have a battery between 5,400 mAh and 5,800 mAh. This figure indicates a capacity even higher than the 5,088 mAh of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This capacity increase could increase the device’s overall weight and thickness.
Other foldable phone manufacturers in the industry have been turning to silicon-carbon-based battery technologies in recent years to reduce device weight and thickness. These technologies optimize the balance between capacity and physical volume.

In contrast, Apple is opting for a larger battery to provide longer battery life. As a result, the foldable model is expected to be thicker and heavier than its competitors.
Apple is known to be adopting a generally thicker design approach for its 2025 models. The additional internal volume provided for the foldable model affects not only battery capacity but also other components within the internal architecture. This increased internal space allows Apple to incorporate a larger vapor chamber. This translates to a more efficient thermal design.
According to leaks, the iPhone Fold, when opened, resembles two iPhone Air models side by side. Prototype information regarding screen sizes has also been shared; one of the prototypes tested features a 7.74-inch main display and a 5.49-inch cover display.
However, these dimensions and all other technical details are subject to change until mass production. Apple’s final design choices will likely remain unchanged for some time to come.
