The End of an Era: Football Manager 2025 Has Been Canceled!
Since its debut, the Football Manager series has been a favorite among football enthusiasts. Initially set for release on November 26 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, and on December 3 for Nintendo Switch, Football Manager 2025 was later postponed to March 2025. However, in a surprising announcement, SEGA and Sports Interactive have confirmed that development on FM25 has been officially discontinued.
Football Manager 2026 Will Be Developed Instead
Despite generating significant hype with trailers and gameplay footage, Football Manager 2025 has officially been canceled, as announced jointly by Sports Interactive and SEGA. The developers stated that the game’s launch has been scrapped due to development challenges and time constraints.

One of the biggest hurdles was reportedly the redesign of the user interface and visual elements. Although the developers claim they achieved most of their goals for FM25, they admitted that the final product did not meet their standards for a complete gaming experience. Another key factor in the decision was the game’s inability to align with the football season, as releasing it later in the year could impact its success in the market.
The company explained its shift in focus with the following statement:
“Following this cancellation, we are now fully committed to ensuring that our next version meets our goals and delivers the quality experience that both we and our fans expect. We will keep you updated on our progress as soon as possible.”
