The new installment of Forza Horizon, one of the most popular open-world racing series in gaming, has officially been revealed. Developer Playground Games announced that Japan will be the location for the highly anticipated next installment in the series, Forza Horizon 6. The announcement was made this morning with a surprise trailer released on the official Forza Horizon Instagram account, ahead of Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show presentation.
Forza Horizon 6 Hits the Road in 2026
The shared short trailer and Instagram post, “Horizon Festival is heading to Japan,” confirmed the new location and confirmed the game’s 2026 release. In other good news for series fans, Forza Horizon 6 will be added to the Xbox Game Pass library and an Xbox Play Anywhere title from day one. This means players can play the game on both Xbox consoles and Windows PCs at no additional cost.
Forza Horizon 6’s 2026 release heralds a busy year for Xbox. This official announcement comes after Xbox president Phil Spencer hinted earlier this year that the next Forza game would arrive in 2026. Playground Games and Xbox also plan to release major titles like Gears of War: E-Day, Halo: Combat Evolved Remaster, and Fable, also developed by Playground Games, that same year.
This announcement comes just one year after the previous game in the series, Forza Horizon 5, achieved astonishing success and was also released on the PS5 platform. Despite its four-year history, Forza Horizon 5 topped Sony’s PlayStation Store charts and became one of the most popular PS5 games of the year. This success further fuels anticipation for the new game, set in the unique landscape of Japan.
