The Framework Laptop just got more expensive, again. After last week’s jump in RAM prices, the company has now raised the cost of SSDs across all current models. If you were planning to buy or upgrade, your wallet’s in for a rougher ride than expected.
Framework Laptop now charges more for all SSD options

Following the first price adjustment tied to memory costs, Framework has increased SSD prices for its 12, 13, and 16-inch laptops. The jump may not sound huge at first glance, but it adds up fast. For example, a 500 GB SSD now costs €92, up from €79 just days ago.
Here’s what the current pricing looks like:
- 500 GB: €92 (previously €79)
- 1 TB: €150 (up from €137)
- 2 TB: €259 (was €224)
Each capacity now carries a premium of €13 to €35, depending on the model.
Framework Laptop SSDs now cost more than third-party options
The real sting? You can find the exact same SSDs for less elsewhere. The WD Black SN7100 M.2 used in Framework’s own configurations is currently available on Amazon for much cheaper: €64 for 500 GB, €109 for 1 TB, and €190 for 2 TB.
In fact, just a couple of months ago, the 1 TB version of that drive could be had for €69. That same unit now starts at €99 or more. Data from PC Part Picker shows a matching curve across the U.S. market, reinforcing that this is no isolated case.
Framework Laptop pricing could rise again soon
The company has warned that SSD prices will likely continue climbing through the first half of 2026. This isn’t just about laptops anymore. The supply crunch stems from surging demand for fast NAND memory, the kind used heavily in AI training and cloud infrastructure.
That means anyone buying tech in 2026 whether it’s a Framework Laptop, a flagship phone, or the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is going to feel the squeeze.
Why prices are spiraling beyond RAM
Earlier this month, Framework raised prices on RAM due to similar pressures. Now SSDs are following the same path. The cause? Data centers and AI developers are swallowing up supplies faster than manufacturers can replenish them.
What once felt like a short-term blip is turning into a sustained price spike.
Rising costs, fewer excuses
Framework’s transparency might earn it some goodwill, but it doesn’t soften the blow. DIY buyers now have every reason to source components themselves. Loyalty won’t stop the numbers from climbing.
