Samsung has begun rolling out the long-awaited One UI 8 Watch update to the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic models. The rollout, which started in South Korea today, is expected to spread globally in the coming days and weeks. This marks the final major operating system upgrade for the Watch 4 series.
Galaxy Watch 4 refresh
This rollout is particularly significant because the Galaxy Watch 4 series was Samsung’s first smartwatch series to run Wear OS in partnership with Google. Four years later, these devices are now receiving their final feature update in the form of One UI 8 Watch, based on Wear OS 6. Korean users are installing the update with the software version number JYK4 and a download size exceeding 1 GB.

One UI 8 Watch focuses on overall improvements rather than radically changing the experience. Users can expect smoother animations, improved system responsiveness, and better consistency across Samsung’s smartwatch ecosystem.
The update continues Samsung’s efforts to further deepen health and fitness integration. Features like sleep tracking, exercise information, and health visuals now feel more polished and consistent.
For Galaxy Watch 4 owners, One UI 8 Watch brings a fresh perspective to devices that aren’t considered the latest hardware. While newer models benefit from faster chips and additional sensors, this update ensures the 2021 series remains secure and relevant, compatible with Samsung’s most up-to-date software ecosystem.
With this release, Samsung has rolled out One UI 8 Watch to all eligible wearable devices. If you own a Galaxy Watch 4 or newer, you can check for the update by opening the Galaxy Wearable app on your paired phone and navigating to Watch settings > Watch software update. Of course, global rollout hasn’t started for some models yet, so users outside of Korea may have to wait a little longer.
