Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Z TriFold, its first triple-folding smartphone, ahead of schedule and not in its home market of South Korea, but in China. The surprise early release shifts the spotlight from the expected December 12 launch in Korea to a premium debut in one of the world’s most competitive tech markets.
Galaxy Z TriFold launches early in China with steep pricing

Originally slated to go on sale first in South Korea, the Galaxy Z TriFold has now entered pre-sales in China, with Samsung confirming both configurations and pricing. The entry model comes with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, priced at CNY 19,999 (~$2,831). For comparison, that’s roughly $708 more than a similarly specced Galaxy Z Fold7, which currently sells for $1,918.99 on Amazon.
Samsung will also offer a higher-tier variant with 1 TB of storage and the same 16 GB RAM, which comes in at CNY 21,999 (~$3,115). That puts the TriFold well into luxury territory, making it one of Samsung’s most expensive mobile devices to date.
Galaxy Z TriFold coming to more markets but no dates yet
Samsung has confirmed that additional regions, including Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE, and the United States, will receive the TriFold. But no firm release dates have been given. The early China launch suggests Samsung is eager to counter competition from Huawei’s Mate XT and Mate XTs, both of which have gained traction in the foldable category.
The Z TriFold represents Samsung’s first entry into the tri-fold smartphone space, offering more screen real estate than any previous Galaxy Fold device. Though full specs were previously disclosed, this pricing update adds crucial context for how Samsung views its most advanced foldable as an ultra-premium flagship, not just another iteration in the Z Fold series.
Ultra-premium pricing, experimental design
Samsung is clearly positioning the Galaxy Z TriFold as a cutting-edge product for early adopters willing to pay for the latest form factor. With prices reaching over $3,000, this device matches the original Galaxy Fold’s early ambitions but adds another layer of innovation and risk.
For now, the foldable tech race has a new front-runner in price and complexity. Whether the TriFold will catch on beyond China may depend on how quickly Samsung can bring it to global markets and whether users are ready for three screens and one very hefty price tag.
