Less than a month after its release, a new rumor suggests that Ghost of Yotei has achieved impressive sales success. According to reports, the game may have surpassed its main rival, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, on the PS5 platform.
Are Ghost of Yotei’s sales at their peak on PS5?
According to a report by The Alinea Insight and reported by GamingBolt, Ghost of Yotei surpassed Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ seven-month PS5 sales in just three weeks. The figures suggest that Ghost of Yotei has sold approximately 100,000 more copies on PS5.

This comparison further fuels the rivalry between the two games. Both games have been frequently compared due to their feudal Japanese theme. Now, the sales figures are adding a new dimension to this rivalry.
The estimated sales figures mentioned in the report are quite striking. Ghost of Yotei is estimated to have sold 2.5 million PS5 units in three weeks. In comparison, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which has been out for seven months, has sold around 2.4 million units on PS5.
It’s worth noting that these figures only include PS5 sales. Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ PC and Xbox Series X|S sales are not included. However, Ghost of Yotei being a PS5 exclusive makes this platform-based comparison fairer.
Like its predecessor, Ghost of Yotei is expected to come to PC later. This will further boost the game’s total sales. The Alinea Insight estimates that Assassin’s Creed Shadows has sold just over 4.3 million units across all platforms. Ghost of Yotei is likely to maintain its sales momentum with the release of Legends mode, expected in 2026.
