Dead Space creator Glen Schofield has revealed his eagerness to return to the legendary horror series and develop Dead Space 4. Schofield stated that he has been in talks with Electronic Arts (EA) to this end.
Glen Schofield Approaches EA for Dead Space 4
Speaking to IGN, the veteran game designer revealed that he “recently” submitted an offer to EA. Schofield suggested he could bring back former Visceral Games leaders and use assets created by Motive Studio for the 2023 remake, saving the company $30 to $40 million. However, EA rejected the offer.

EA Sale Could Create New Opportunity
Schofield, however, hasn’t lost hope after EA was acquired by a $55 billion investment consortium. He believes the new owners could sell off some studios or intellectual property (IP) to reduce debt. “I’m more optimistic because someone new could buy the IP,” Schofield said, adding that he’s already “making calls” to explore the opportunity.
Electronic Arts didn’t make the profit it expected from the Dead Space remake. Consequently, Motive Studio’s remake proposal for the second game was also rejected, and the series was shelved again. Glen Schofield left Striking Distance Studios after The Callisto Protocol, which was inspired by Dead Space but failed to meet expectations.
