There was a remarkable increase in global computer shipments in the first quarter of 2025. According to the latest data published by Canalys; the total number of shipments, including desktops, laptops and workstations, increased by 9.4% to 62.7 million.
Global computer sales increased in 2025
This growth was determined by the acceleration of manufacturers’ deliveries to the US. We can say that this increase in shipments is directly related to the threat of customs duties brought to the agenda again by former US President Donald Trump.

Manufacturers are trying to prevent potential cost increases by delivering more products to the US market before new tax regulations come into effect. For example, laptop shipments increased by 10% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 49.4 million units.
Desktop computers increased by 8%, reaching 13.3 million units. The growth in both categories reflects a steady increase in demand in the market. In the evaluation made on a brand basis, Lenovo maintained its leadership with 15.2 million device shipments. The company’s market share was calculated as 24.2%.
HP ranked second with 12.7 million devices and 20.3% market share. Dell ranked third with 15.2% share with 9.5 million shipments. However, another notable development occurred on the Apple front.
The company grew by 22% in the first quarter of 2025. This rate means that Apple shipped 6.5 million computers. With this performance, Apple reached a 10.4% market share and strengthened its fourth-place position.
It is stated that new customs duties that the US may impose in the upcoming period may negatively affect sales. So what do you think about this issue? You can share your views with us in the comments section below.
