Google has added Veo 3, its AI-powered video creation engine, to the Photos app. Users can now transform static photos into animated images or four-second videos. This new feature also allows for more dynamic videos with the “I’m Trying My Luck” option. This free version currently lacks audio support and has a daily usage limit.
Veo 3 Coming to the Photos app
With Veo 3, the app also added a tool called Remix. This tool can transform photos into different styles, such as anime drawings, comic book illustrations, and 3D animations. A new Collage tool has also been introduced, making it easier to create collages by combining multiple photos. This collage maker also includes a simple image editor.

Another new feature in the app is the Highlight tool. This tool automatically creates visual montages accompanied by music based on users’ search queries. Cinematic Photos also creates 3D versions of existing photos. Many of these tools can be combined to create more creative and unique visuals.
The Google Photos app with Veo 3 integration is currently only available in the US. All these new features are accessible through the “Create” tab. The free version has a daily production limit. Users who want to create more videos or images must subscribe to Google AI Pro and Ultra. Google previously integrated Veo 3 with YouTube.
