Sad news for Good Omens fans. After some problems with series creator Neil Gaiman, the series was officially cancelled. However, since the third season is still in production, Amazon will release an extended episode that ends the story of the series in order not to waste all the labour. In other words, the 3rd season of the series will come to the screens as a single episode.
According to expectations, the final episode will last about 90 minutes to ‘make up’ for the cancellation of the new season. Here are the details…
Why was Good Omens cancelled?
Neil Gaiman left the production of the series after allegations of sexual harassment against the women he had a relationship with. Gaiman, who denied the allegations, was known as the creator and responsible for the series.
Gaiman and his team contributed to the last episode of the series. However, his company, The Blank Corporation, will be officially discontinued. According to some interviewed sources, Amazon is looking for a new screenwriter to finish the series.
Unfortunately, there is no finalised agreement on this issue yet. Despite all the problems and the abrupt end of the series, Michael Sheen and David Tennant, who played the main characters Aziraphale and Crowley, will return for the filming of the special episode. Recording is expected to begin in Scotland in early 2025.
Good Omens was approved for a new season last year, and the third season was originally supposed to be the last season of the series. But Gaiman’s departure spoilt the whole plan.
