For those who grew up in the ’90s, Toy Story holds a legendary status and is known to have played a significant role in Pixar’s rise to fame. The new installment, Toy Story 5, has been officially announced, with some details and the release date now revealed. Here’s what we know…
Toy Story 5 is set to hit theaters in 2026!
Disney and Pixar have finally confirmed the news that fans have been eagerly awaiting: Woody and Buzz are returning to the screen for a brand-new adventure. Following Disney CEO Bob Iger’s announcement last year, details of the project were revealed at the D23 event. Andrew Stanton, a veteran of the series, will be directing Toy Story 5.
In his statement, Stanton revealed that the new film will present a challenging struggle for the toys, focusing on their competition with electronic devices that captivate children and keep them away from traditional toys.
It has also been confirmed that Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, who voice the main characters Woody and Buzz, will be returning for the project. Allen mentioned on The Tonight Show that he was initially concerned that the fifth film might extend the series unnecessarily, but after reading the script, he changed his mind.
The highly anticipated new film in this legendary series, beloved by children of the ’90s and subsequent generations, will be in theaters on June 19, 2026. With Toy Story 5, it’s expected that not only children but also the now-adult generation will flock to the theaters.
