Huawei has fallen behind its competitors in processor performance after losing access to its primary chip supplier, TSMC. Due to US sanctions, the Chinese company turned to China’s SMIC for its latest Kirin chipset. Recent reports suggest that the brand’s upcoming Mate 80 series will be faster than its predecessors thanks to significant improvements in chip technology.
Huawei Mate 80 series will be faster
Reliable industry source Digital Chat Station has revealed that the next-generation Kirin 9030 processor, expected to power the Mate 80 series, will offer a 20 percent performance increase. As is well known, the Chinese brand’s current flagship, the Pura 80 series, uses the Kirin 9020.

According to current information, Huawei may offer the Mate 80 series with a mini cooling fan without compromising the devices’ waterproofing.
To elaborate further, the cooling system will be located in the lower half of the phones’ camera area, while the air duct will be located on the side. Despite all this, as mentioned above, waterproofing will remain. Airflow will be sealed off from internal components, protecting them from dust and water ingress.
The top-tier model, the Mate 80 RS, is expected to feature a dual-layer OLED display and a titanium frame. The entire series will also receive a major camera upgrade, including a new SmartSens sensor.
