Apple has extended the free satellite feature period for iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 users by another year. This decision postpones the previously announced end of the free period from November 2025 to November 2026. The company made this extension official in an announcement during the launch of the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models.
iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 to Offer Free Satellite Features
The Emergency SOS service, which debuted with the iPhone 14 series in November 2022, was initially offered free of charge for two years. A first extension in 2023 brought this period forward to November 2025.

Now, with the latest extension, the paid feature period has been postponed until November 2026. As stated on Apple’s official website, this extension will apply to all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 users who activate their devices in a country that supports satellite features before that date.
Apple’s satellite services include a variety of features, including Emergency SOS, satellite messaging, “Find My,” and roadside assistance. The satellite messaging feature, introduced in iOS 18, allows users to communicate with loved ones even without a cellular or Wi-Fi connection.
Thanks to a partnership with Globalstar, these services operate seamlessly in supported regions. It has also been announced that the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will also include these satellite features.
