Google announced that it has developed a set of features for its chatbot Bard. Google Bard, based on the PaLM-2 machine learning model, has gained new abilities in coding. Unlike ChatGPT, Bard allows users to see the output of a code. Additionally, the approach to examining questions has also changed.
Google Bard is leading in a new era in coding
Google aims to improve the accuracy of artificial intelligence in performing computational tasks. To achieve this, Bard has been endowed with the ability to execute written code. This innovation means that Google can now solve mathematical problems or display the outputs of code.
Models like ChatGPT attempt to explain by examining information in pieces. For example, when asked to reverse the word “Lollipop,” ChatGPT gives an incorrect answer because it tries to understand it by breaking it down into syllables.
Microsoft's Bing Chat, an AI-driven chat version of Bing, now allows interaction via voice commands, offering more flexibility to users.
Google is testing a different approach to address this issue in machine learning. For instance, when faced with the same question, Bard can generate a Python program and execute the code to produce the correct output, “popilloL.” Bard not only provides the answer but also shows the code it used to arrive at that result.
While adopting this approach, Google also overcomes some of the limitations in mathematical manipulations. For instance, it can handle queries related to determining prime numbers or calculating growth rates through Python.
While Google expands Bard’s capabilities, it is important to note that ChatGPT has also received notable improvements. Furthermore, Google has significantly increased its user base with an official iOS application. Additionally, Samsung has started testing third-party AI solutions similar to ChatGPT.
