Google has officially confirmed the screen issues experienced on its Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL series, two of its most prominent smartphone models of recent years. The tech giant announced that it has launched a dedicated Extended Repair Program for these devices to address user concerns and ensure customer satisfaction.
Google offers an official solution for the Pixel 9 Pro screen flickering and lines issue
According to the company’s official statement, these hardware issues are currently affecting a “limited number” of devices. If your Pixel 9 Pro or Pro XL model is experiencing vertical lines running from top to bottom on its screen, or if you are experiencing screen flickering issues, you may be eligible for this new program from Google.

Google offers free screen replacements for devices experiencing the aforementioned issues and meeting the requirements for up to three years from the original retail purchase date. However, to qualify for this free replacement, your device must first be examined by an authorized repair center, and the issue must be verified by the authorized repair center.
An important caveat is to emphasize at this point: Not every Pixel 9 Pro or Pro XL owner will automatically be eligible for this program. Google has made it clear that phones with cracked screens, damaged protective glass, or signs of liquid contact will not be eligible for a free screen replacement. If your device doesn’t meet these criteria, you can apply for standard warranty coverage or opt for a paid out-of-warranty repair.
The Extended Repair Program, which is currently active, is available through Google’s authorized service partners or online repair channels. Furthermore, the company promises that all repairs performed under this special program will be protected by a 90-day warranty.
Finally, Google would like to remind you that this repair extension only applies to specified screen defects. This means it does not extend the overall warranty or expand coverage for other unrelated issues outside of the limited warranty.
What are your thoughts on these screen issues on Google’s flagship models and the company’s 3-year free repair solution?
