Google has announced that it will completely disable the Instant Apps feature in the Android operating system by the end of 2025. The company stated that it made this decision due to the feature being used at a low level for a long time.
Google will remove the Instant Apps feature in Android
The system, which was first introduced in 2017, allowed users to directly experience an application without installing it on their devices. It aimed to save users time, especially in scenarios that require quick decisions, such as game demos and shopping applications.

The system allowed developers to create smaller, instantly installable versions of their applications. Thus, users could test the basic functions of the application by just clicking on a link and get an idea before installing the full version on their devices. This structure both facilitated application discovery and offered developers the opportunity to reach new audiences.
Android Studio users have now started to see support warnings about Instant Apps in the system. According to the warning noticed by developer Leon Omelan, all Instant Apps APIs on Google Play and the publishing processes related to this area will be terminated as of December 2025.
Google management confirmed this decision and stated that developers are now turning to different solutions for app discovery. It is stated that the company prefers to direct its resources to these tools, which are now more widely used.
The closure of Instant Apps means the end of an important period in terms of app distribution and user interaction in the Android ecosystem. With this development, users will be encouraged to install applications directly in full versions.
